In 1954 he published the essay The Orchids of Liechtenstein, in which he described the native orchids of his adopted country as well as the ecological conditions pertaining there. On the basis of this text, Anna Hilti decided to create a graphic interpretation of the spider orchid (Ophrys sphegodes), which Ganss had
