It was originally designed for the Royal Navy and was one of the first jet powered aircraft to operate from aircraft carriers. The Sea Hawk had a Rolls Royce Nene engine and was built to be robust and reliable. The aircraft had non swept wings that could be folded for use on aircraft carriers and a landing hook for deck landings. It was used as a fighter aircraft and a fighter
