Though I had never heard of Roberto Vascon, once I read up on him, I was really smitten with him as a designer and as a human being. His is the true American Dream story; moved from Brazil penniless and was living on a bench in Central Park when he had a dream about handbags. He gathered aluminum cans and traded them in to buy a sewing machine and some material scraps to make the purses of his dreams.
