The tortoiseshell is distinctive for being inlaid exclusively with gold an unusual choice, as piqu work of the period often combines both gold and silver inlay. The earrings are designed with elegant triple graduated hoops. The brooch featuring the same richly inlaid triple hoops suspended beneath a trefoil ended bar top. The earrings measure 5. 5cm long
