They are attractive clump forming perennials which have graceful, fern like leaves but the most beautiful part is the arching creamy plume like flower panicles that rise above the foliage on slender, red stained stems. Professor Van der Wielen flowers can reach up to 90cm and appear in late spring to early summer and make an excellent cut flower as well as drying to an attractive biscuit colour
