Master photographer Emery Gulash visited the Overland Route many times during the 22 years following the demise of steam while the UP was searching for the “perfect diesel” combination to handle its fastmoving freight

These photos were commissioned by the SP in the late 1930s

He also found freight on those roads as well as CGW

special events and other achievements in color from the 1940’s onward
