Victorian Niello Silver Propelling Pencil Pendant medal As for this little seed/nutDATE: Victorian, c. 1890 This charming Victorian propelling pencil is encased in lovely Niello silver and rosey gold gilt metal. The pencil is moved in and out by moving the rosey gold band along the Niello case, and it features a small jump ring for wear on a chain so you have something to jot your notes down with to hand! Niello is an ancient technique, similar to enamelling, but using a black mixture of powdered silver, copper, lead, and sulphur.
