Georgian Rock Crystal "Virtue Is Greater Than Splendour" Shamrock Fob cat's eye Chester 1904DATE: Georgian, c. 1820 An excellent Georgian seal fob pendant set with a rock crystal intaglio carving in the base. The crystal is mounted over foil, increasing its brilliance and brightness, and it's carved with a heraldic crest and the motto "Major Virtus Quam Splendor", which translates as "Virtue is greater than splendour", quite a lovely motto if you ask me It's crafted in 15k gold throughout with a large shamrock motif, an Irish symbol that
